Reportages • Old man of Hoy

The
Old Man of Hoy in the Orkneys is undoubtedly Britain's most spectacular
and well known summit. It is a gigantic sea stack rising some 137m (450
ft) above the waves. Made of photogenic red sandstone, it towers above
the pounding Atlantic Ocean. Since a BBC broadcast with Chris Bonington
and other climbing stars of the 60's, the Old Man of Hoy has become in
Britain the symbol of extreme rock-climbing to the general public.
Catherine climbs this tower alone.
This solo is also related in the film "Rock Queen".
